The train comes to a stop
and the doors open.

He slides down the escalator,
steps out of the station
and sees them for the first time.

Three older men.

One is tall and skinny
and walks calmly, slowly
and with a simple sense
of gentleness.

Another one is smaller but a lot more muscular and thick and he walks with almost military decisiveness.

The third one is not as tall or gentle as the first one
and not as strong and muscular as the second one.

He has long black hair,
a beard and a kind smile
which is instantly directed at him
as he spots him for the first time.

A flash of recognition

passes between them,

a quick glimpse

of ocean, caverns, castles

and an endless struggle

that reaches far back into the forgotten depths of time.

Then the man extends his hand
and he shakes it slowly,
quietly introducing himself.
