She leans her head back
in simple adoration,

an innocent longing
with just a hint of desire,

and she somehow realizes
that today she has a special visitor,

the kind that may never
show up in her home again.

She can only swoon

and allow the sound of the mountains

to pull her out of her human cage

for a brief instant.

She closes her eyes
and lets it all wash through her,
from the tips of her toes
to the crown of her head.

When the melody stops,
she picks up the phone
and calls her brother.
