In the bedroom,
after talking to a neighborhood friend,

Liliana has discovered
that the little Bolivian boy,

the one she had seen earlier
in the kitchen,

plays the Andean flute

and she rushes to the living room
to find him.

“Play for us!"

"Play for us!”

The boy nods
and does not hesitate at all,

and soon he is readily playing
Andean melodies
on his wooden quena,

the mountain flute
that he has brought with him
in his backpack.

For a moment,

all eyes are on him

and he bathes

in the liquid

fire

of their

attention.
