The garden was slanted upwards in the back, in three
levels that served as division points for many kinds of games. |
Many wars were played out in those divisions, many spy stories and many
legends of monsters and ghosts. |
Each section had its own shape and plants, its own taste.
The first one was dominated by a "chipilin" tree (a kind of fruit that I
never liked even though, to be honest, I never tasted it, not even once). |
The tree had the honor of being the largest structure in
the whole place (except for the building) and it usually served as the focus point for
games: |
The headquarters for the intergalactic armada... |
The central agency for International Spies Inc. |
The resting point in games of tag... |
the challenge for tree climbers |
...and the place for stories to begin and end. |
It also attracted large fleets of bats every night (it seemed that the
little flying creatures had tasted the little red fruits and were much in love with them)
which made the garden even more mysterious at night, with rapidly flying little shadows
crossing the beams of light from our terrace every once in a while. |
